Tone Regulation
Tone regulation, often called "voicing", involves adjusting the tone of the piano. Tone is the "shape" or "color" of each note and is a separate quality from pitch.
Voicing strives to create a continuum of pleasing tone across the entire range of the keyboard. It brings out the dynamic power of your piano. Sweet tones for pp / ppp passages, melodic quality for mf playing, and thunderous, rich tone for ff / fff passages are all achieved through proper voicing. Voicing brings out the full musical potential of your piano. A piano must be in good repair, well regulated, and recently tuned before proper voicing can be performed. |
